Reed Tech is a small locally owned company made up of highly trained and experienced professionals. Our company was formed in 1992 with a vision to meet geophysical and underground utility locating needs for a diverse base of clients. We are committed to excellence and reliability in locating and marking underground facilities and focus on solving subsurface problems for environmental, industrial, military, and urban clients. We have 80+ years of combined field experience and have built a reputation of dependability, accuracy, and thoroughness.

Duke Brantley of Columbia serves as owner and president of Reed Tech, continuing the company’s long standing reputation of excellence in timely and reliable subsurface geophysical and utility locating. Brantley, a graduate of Presbyterian College with a degree in business administration, also earned a masters and PhD in geology with an emphasis on geophysics from the University of South Carolina and has over 20 years of earth science and geophysical experience. Duke is active in the community and is the previous Chair of the SC Board of Registered Geologist and a member of the Subsurface Professionals of the South East US. When not working, Duke enjoys biking, boating, playing music and anything outside, especially with his wife and two children.

Becky brings 20+ years of experience from the construction industry to Reed Tech. A double graduate of Clemson University, Becky earned a Bachelor of Science in Design and a Master of Architecture. As a registered architect, her attention to detail and focus on client goals are at the forefront of Reed Tech's business structure and decision making process. Becky's knowledge, skills, and abilities offer a unique perspective that complements the team. Her experience with critical components of the business including clear communication, on-site safety, and project schedules are valued by our customers and their underground locating and geophysical needs. Outside of work, Becky enjoys spending time with her family, boating and playing tennis.

Mike was born and raised in Columbia, SC and has been locating utilities for over 30 years. Mike started off on the public locating side and was hand selected by Reed Tech due to his thoroughness, reliability, and honesty and still carries the title of first employee of Reed Tech. Having a “no stone left unturned” approach, Mike has devised a locating method that is tried and proven to be the most efficient and effective method of private utility locating. Locating on the private side is an art and a science, and Mike has mastered both. On top of Mike being a locating expert, he is genuinely a joy to be around with a big personality and great sense of humor. Mike is well known and respected in our industry and an invaluable part of our team.
